Tell us about Estonia, and what drew you to Super-8.

You want to know about Estonia? Well, it's small, actually very small. The population is somewhere around 1.5 million right now. It's situated right next to great big Russia and was a part of the USSR just about ten years ago. The economy has since then escalated madly, with early capitalism having it's drawbacks such as homeless people and harsh social stratification. As far as the information age thing goes, Estonia is in the top ten with the number of computers with internet per 100 people. The weather is pretty cold, but we're considered a northern country so it's no wonder. In winter the temperatures may drop as low as -30 degrees Celsius, it's really warm and sunny only about four months of the year. The nature's pretty, a lot of woods and some beautyful lakes. All in all it's a pretty good place to live if you learn to deal with the weather. I haven't though and I want to move to Australia someday.
What drew me to super8? Actually me buying the camera. I skateboard and I had seen a couple of videos that looked strangely old. I thought the guys were either just fooling aroun with some old camera or it's all computer manipulated. Later on I started noticing people filming skateboarding with weird ancient looking cameras in the back of the pictures in skateboard magazines. And one day I went to a marketplace, sort of a flea market and saw the camera hanging on the window of one booth. When I saw it's a super8, I just couldn't leave it there and so I bought it. And now it's taking up most of my free time, the reading of different articles on super8 filming and so on. I've really gotten interested in it. I hope it works out.

    Can I deputize you?

(Don't worry, the pinning action is neutralized cuz this is the internet).

Any and all stories of Estonia are welcome on this forum. And if you find others in Estonia that are making videos or shoot super-8, or have shot Super-8, please share their story here.

What exactly do you mean by deputizing?

I went to the electonics store today and checked out the battery situation. My Canon's light meter is supposed to work with PX625 1.3V batteries, they had the same size ones but 1.5V Now, can I put those in or are they gonna tweak the meter much?
I have a granduncle living in Colorado, USA, and he's coming to visit us in Estonia in summer. I was thinking about asking him to bring me a 10pack of Kodak's K40 film, but is Kodak still going to process and return my film then? Does where I get the film affect the cost of processing and return that way?
I will try and locate the 8mm s******* in Estonia, in case there are any, and try and get their stories or something. This will however take some time, cause I'm real busy with stuff right now.

I don't know the answer to your voltage question.

I would recommend typing the battery code number into the Google.com search engine and see what comes up.

Let us know. If you can tell us the wording on the replacement battery, I will do a search and see what I come up with.

I think they were Varta V625 U alkaline batteries. Nominal voltage 1.5 and typical capacity 200 mAh.
The woman behind the counter, who usually knows everything about electronics and stuff didn't know either if the additional 0.2 volts would do something to the performance of the light meter. I wouldn't want to put them in and burn something inside the camera. I'll try and find out more about those batteries and let you know.
